Terms of use

1. Who we are, and what My Pila is

My Pila (“we”, “us”) is a rating registry and tournament listing service for amateur padel players in the UK. Organisers list and run tournaments; players build a rating from the matches they play.

My Pila is not a booking service. We don’t take court bookings on your behalf.

My Pila is not a payments service. We never handle tournament entry money. See “Tournament entry and money” below.

By creating an account or using My Pila, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use My Pila.

2. Who can use My Pila

You must be 18 or over to create a My Pila account. Every entrant in a My Pila-listed tournament must also be 18 or over. Organisers confirm this when they list an event, and it applies to entrants added part-way through an event too. My Pila doesn’t support junior participation today.

One account per person. You may not create more than one account, and you may not use an account set up on someone else’s behalf without their knowledge. If we find duplicate or shared accounts, we may close them.

You must give us accurate details when you sign up, and keep them up to date, because your rating and your match history depend on knowing who really played.

3. Your account

Keep your sign-in details safe. You’re responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to it.

You can sign in with Google. If you do, you’re also bound by Google’s own terms for that sign-in method.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms; see “Suspension and closing accounts” below.

4. Players, organisers, and us

Anyone can hold a player account. Organiser access works differently: it’s a permission granted to an existing account. There’s no separate sign-up. To become an organiser, you (or your club) apply, and access switches on 24 hours after approval.

Organisers create and run events, add entrants (including people who haven’t signed up to My Pila themselves), enter results, and manage entries. Organisers can’t verify their own events. Verification is always someone else’s decision, so an organiser can’t wave through their own tournament.

Organisers can play in their own events. When they do, any match they play in needs a one-tap confirmation from someone on the opposing pair before it counts towards ratings. If nobody confirms within 24 hours, or the opposing pair says the score is wrong, it goes to our admin team to resolve.

An organiser or a My Pila admin decides claim requests (someone saying “this unclaimed player is me”); My Pila admins decide disputes over results. Their decisions are final within the platform, though nothing here affects your wider legal rights.

5. Content you add

Using My Pila, you might add things like tournament posters, event descriptions, payment instructions, messages to entrants, Team Up notes, or claim evidence. This is your content, and you’re responsible for it.

By adding content, you give us a licence to show it on My Pila, on the relevant event, profile or listing page, for as long as it’s relevant to that event or account.

If you’re an organiser and you add another person’s name or details (for example, entering a participant who hasn’t signed up themselves), you confirm that you’re allowed to give us that information, and that you’ll tell that person their result and any details you’ve added will appear on My Pila.

We may remove content that breaks these terms, is unlawful, or that we’re required to take down, for example following a rights request (see our privacy notice).

6. Premium

In plain terms: In plain terms: Premium is £20/year, cancel any time, and it never changes your rating or who can enter a tournament.

Premium costs £20 a year. It renews automatically each year through Stripe, our payment processor, until you cancel.

You can cancel at any time from the billing portal. If you cancel, you keep Premium access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for. Nothing is taken back early, and nothing else changes.

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it automatically. If it still hasn’t gone through after those retries, your Premium access ends.

You have 14 days from your purchase to cancel Premium for a full refund, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Cancel within those 14 days and we refund the payment in full. After that window, cancelling stops future renewals but doesn’t refund the period you’re already in.

Premium never changes your rating or who’s eligible to enter a tournament. What it adds:

  • Full profiles for other claimed players: their history, match record and head-to-heads.
  • Team Up, our partner finder. Send and receive invites, up to 5 pending at a time, each open for 72 hours before it expires.
  • Claiming a qualifying spot on the circuit; see “The circuit and prizes” below.
  • Disclosed waitlist priority. When an event fills up, Premium players sit higher on the waitlist, and the event page says so before you enter.

Everything you need to enter and play in tournaments, and to hold a rating, stays free.

7. Tournament entry and money

In plain terms: In plain terms: we never take your entry fee. You pay the organiser, by whatever method they've set up.

My Pila never handles money for tournament entry. When you enter an event, payment happens directly between you and the organiser, using whichever method they’ve set up, such as a card link, bank transfer instructions or cash on the day.

Payment is handled by the organiser, not My Pila. We may show a badge naming a recognised payment provider (for example, Stripe or PayPal), but recognising a provider only confirms which payment service is being used. It says nothing about who you’re paying, and it isn’t a guarantee from us.

Refunds and cancellations of entry fees are between you and the organiser. We list events; we don’t run them, and we’re not a party to your payment.

If you have Premium, you may get priority on an event’s waitlist. Where that applies, it’s disclosed on the event page before you enter.

8. Ratings and results

In plain terms: In plain terms: your rating is calculated automatically from real matches, starts as a rough estimate, and settles down as you play.

Your My Pila rating is calculated automatically from the matches you play. When you first sign up, you tell us your level (or the level you play at elsewhere). This is your own estimate, and we label it “claimed” until you’ve played enough to verify it.

A rating is treated as verified once it’s settled, typically after around 10 matches; see how ratings work for the full explanation. Until then, it can move quickly as we learn more about your level.

If your claimed level looks a long way off how you’re actually playing, we may flag this to the organiser (sometimes called “sandbagging”). The flag is not a punishment: nobody is automatically blocked, and the flag disappears once your rating verifies.

Match results are append-only: once recorded, a result stays in the record, even if it’s later voided. A voided match no longer counts towards your rating, but it isn’t deleted.

Organisers and admins can correct a mistaken score within 24 hours of the match being played. Where an organiser played in the match, the opposing pair needs to confirm the score, or flag it as wrong, within 24 hours, or it goes to admin review.

We don’t guarantee that any rating is perfectly accurate. It’s our best calculation from the evidence we have. If you think a result or a rating is wrong, you can raise it with the organiser, or use our rights request form to tell us.

9. The circuit and prizes

The circuit is a regional, quarterly competition. Players earn points from their finishing position in circuit-eligible events; a qualifying place at the top of a region’s leaderboard offers a spot in that region’s My Pila tournament.

Only Premium players can claim a qualifying spot. You have 7 days to claim it once it’s offered. If you don’t, it rolls down to the next-ranked Premium player.

Prizes are provided by My Pila, our organiser and venue partners, or both, and the amount can vary by region and cycle. A region’s first cycle is never less than £50.

You need to be eligible to take part in a region’s circuit: broadly, an active player in that region who meets the activity requirements shown on the circuit page. Eligibility rules can change between cycles; the current rules for a region are always shown on that region’s circuit page.

10. What you must not do

Using My Pila, you agree not to:

  • Fake or falsify a match result.
  • Use someone else’s account, or let someone else use yours.
  • Harass, abuse, or discriminate against another player or organiser.
  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from My Pila.
  • Try to get around the 18+ requirement, for yourself or for anyone you add as an entrant.

11. Suspension and closing accounts

We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. A suspended account can’t sign in, and we’ll record the reason.

If your account is suspended or closed, your match results stay in the ledger (a rating is a shared record), but your profile and personal details are handled the way our privacy notice describes.

12. Our responsibility to you

In plain terms: In plain terms: we're responsible for running My Pila properly, but we don't run your tournament and we're not liable for what happens on court.

We’re responsible for providing My Pila with reasonable care and skill. If something on the platform goes wrong because of us, we’ll put it right.

We don’t run tournaments, book courts, or organise venues. Organisers do. We’re not liable for injury, loss, or damage that happens at an event or venue; that sits with the organiser and the venue.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that can’t be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

13. Intellectual property

The My Pila name, the rating data we calculate, and the content of the site (design, text, and code) belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy or reuse them without our permission, beyond using My Pila normally.

Content you add (posters, descriptions, messages and so on) stays yours. See “Content you add” above for the licence you give us to show it.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material, we’ll let you know and ask you to accept the new terms before you can keep using My Pila.

15. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.

If you’re a consumer, this doesn’t take away any protection you have under the law of the country where you live.
